Christmas animation (not finished)

Hey bloggers I made this Animation with my friend Kirsty and it was really fun and it is not finished yet. I will finish it another time and I hope I get better at it. I have no idea what to do next for the animation but all as I know it is going to be about christmas (obviously)

Creating a new Google logo

Bonjour bloggers, I have been learning to create my own logo. It was really fun and I recreated the Google logo but before you did it you had to watch a video about it first then we had to try to create a new Google logo I thought it was quite hard at first but then I created it and this is my new google logo... if you want to try to create you own logo here is the link Google logo creation

next time I think that I am going to do a theme for the logo  for this one I just did anyone of them I think that is is very amazing my favourite one letter in Google is G because it looks really cool and it stands out. 

Reading activities

Hey bloggers, for reading my reading group had an activities in a book and we had to choose a any reading book to read, then we had to choose an activity and try to get four in a row I have not got a four in a row yet. The first  book that I read was called fruit I did two activities on that then the second one I read was called Ice cream, I have only done one activity on the ice cream. I found out... at the 1904 world fair in the USA Ice cream was being sold in dishes next to a man making crisp waffles and he rolled up the crisp flat waffles into cones and filled them up with ice cream- Ice cream cones .


In 1784 in America president Washington liked ice cream so much he bought a cream machine.


In 1846 the invention of an ice cream machine by an american woman Nancy Johnson that meant for ice cream could be made in a shorter time soon more ice cream could be made in a shorter time, soon more ice cream was able to be bought

Hi guys today we did prototec for maths it was fun. I got 95% on stage 6 but yesterday I got 97% but today I only got 1 wrong it was 1000-465 But yesterday I did it in 6 minutes and today I did it in 19 minutes. Here is my certificate....

Hanmer Springs

Have you been to hanmer springs? It is fun there is a water slide that is HUGE! We have not gone yet it is on Sunday I hope it is fun.We have to leave at 8am in the morning and I will have to wake up at 6or 7 because I take long to get ready very very long.

Prototec

Kia Ora,
I did prototec for maths it was amazing it was to see what level you are on at maths I think I am on 5 because I got 48/60 in 10 minutes and 12 seconds. If you have not tried prototec and want to try it here is the link to it.........http://maths.prototec.co.nz/ 
It is fun you can choose what level you are on and there is 2-3 4 5 6 7 8 and times tables 2-9 and 10 Hope you try it and learn something and get better at math.

Next time I think I should try it again or try level six level six looks hard but I might get up to it next year I am excited to be on level five I hope to be on level six by next year or this year.

Numeracy

We had to make a video about why do we like numeracy and here is my photo we had to answer questions and make a video I was the 2nd one to do it. We did it on something called flipgrid, and we had to make a blog post about it.  I think flip grid is kind of fun you answer questions and in the video.

The New Refurbishment Hub

Yesterday we moved into a new hub that they have been working on to build well basically fixing and redoing it into a BRAND NEW HUB from the old junior hub Weka, Kea and Pukeko and it looks amazing I LOVE IT.  It looks huge but it is the same size as it use to be.  There is a yellow room, green purple and aqua and don't forget the Library. it looks sooo cool. My Favorite part is the yellow room because it is quite bright and pretty.The most thing that I am worried about is people dropping their rubbish and making it dirty. I hope you guys are having are great day! Bye that was the new refurbishment senior hub.

  

ARIANA GRANDE!

AHHHH I literally had the best day ever on the 2nd of September I went to Auckland and went to Ariana Grande in the Spark Arena it was the BEST EXPERIENCE for the first concert! She sang lots of her songs she sounded amazing!! My Mum says I sound like her when I talk. It started at 6pm at night and ended at 11pm at night. The next morning on Sunday my mum and I had to wake up early at 5am in the morning to go to the airport. It was an early night Sunday night. My mum bought me some activities on the plane there was some pencils and colouring activities. Then I looked outside the window AND...............................
I saw the Southern Alps they are mountains near the West Coast I think??? Comment where they are please....we had to stay in a hotel a VERY HIGH Then by the time we got back home it took 1hour and 15 minutes  it took ages,  SOOO when I got home I Unpacked it took ages.

Fidget Spinner Persuasive Writing

A fidget spinner is a Device that keeps spinning. They have only been popular in Gilberthorpe school for only this term.  I am Opposed to Cons

*We had to write a story about a Persuasive fidget spinner writing I chose Cons (No) and my Writing I think fidget spinners should not be allowed at school because....... They are distracting, noisy  and you could loose it, other people might have the same and you might want a turn on someone fidget spinner and you might cause an argument and it might get taken off you!!!!!  They are also expensive
other people  adding onto mine: they might get stuck in your hair and break if they are plastic, you can lose them while you are playing,

Learning Fractions

In Rata we were learning fractions and we played a game about fractions we all had a card and we had a fraction and a who has .......  And it goes in an order for the card A,B,C and keeps going until the person that has A is back to the start again, it is really fun!  Here is an example 1/2 is half 1/4 is a quarter and 1/8 is one 8th so

if you had 1/6 one sixth the first number is the numerator and the bottom one is the denominator you sat it like this de...nom...i...nat...or and the other one is like this nu...mer...at...or...  and fractions are fun when you get ti know them it is hard when i first started i had NO IDEA how to do them, now i do! here is a picture of some fractions and how they work. So first you count all of them and then you count the shaded parts so  the yellow one will be 3/1 the first one means all of the parts and the shaded will be 1 so..............3/1

A Creative Monster

In Rata class we have been learning to make a monster. We had to do our name and age about us and our favorite colour we also had to do our favorite shape! so here is my monster I created it looked a bit funny we had to do the hair how many letters in our name and for the teeth we had to do our favorite shape for the body and for the eyes how many siblings including us!
It looks a bit funny I hope you like it and you get inspired we were not aloud to use something from google only  shapes and ideas from google!

Timernook

Yesterday  Gilberthorpe went to Timbernook!!
It was so fun, we got to do loads of things there was a river that was flowing along the start where you walk in, it was nice time!

Yesterday the whole of Gilberthorpe school went to Timbernook! It was AMAZING!! We could do anything we want but you had to be nice about what you did there was clay, making flower crowns , pancakes and hooler hoops it was absolutely FUN! The first thing I did was making a flower crown out of real flowers it turned out to look amazing. We made huts and made things out of clay it was so cool! Also we had a war and there were tribes I was the rainbow one and when we made our hut everyone came and stole all of our things so we had to move, we moved like about 5 times in one day.  After that I played with the clay and made something and I let it to dry and you know what happened……..

It was GONE!! Then after that I could not find keisha I said “Keisha, keisha” I found her in the trees it was funny. But sadly it was time to go back to school but it was a very fun day!

Poem Writing

Hey People!
Rata Class is learning how to do poem writing and it is so fun you have to make rhyme words and words that start with the same letter it is ABSOLUTELY cool you also have to make it up yourself!
You also have to make a screencastify of you saying it with this clicking noise. The hardest part in it was making the rhymes and making it start with the same letter.  I like doing it because it is interesting and it help you rhyme and I think it helps you in your learning to make a poem.

Journey Writing / animation

MAGICAl FLOWER

Hey wanna go to dance party I said as me and keisha walked along the beach then suddenly keisha’s phone rang and I walked away without knowing keisha was still on the beach and then  I went to a dance party and shouted “WHOOOOOOO!”

Then I said “oh no where is keisha!?” I saw skyla at the dance party too.

Keisha walked on the mountains and said,  “Hey is that a flower?”  it was a sunflower as she picked it up suddenly she started to fly in the air and BOOOOOOOOOM! she was where her friends were but that did not solve the problem skyla was not home yet but it was my birthday!

Then I got a huge present and it was a unicorn it might help to get skyla home keisha said.

But the unicorn did not have a name what name could it be said skyla! Emalea said “it could be Emalea the 2nd that is a good name anyway I am Emalea!” Then I started to laugh and then keisha and then skyla!   

Afterwards Emalea the 2nd flew away with skyla and went thru the sky and landed on the front yard and then Skyla went inside luckily it was my birthday Emalea thought. But then how would Emalea the 2nd get back home, can she keep her she thought………. Hey good bye  skyla said as she flew away on the unicorn!!!!!!!

Juggling

For writing we had to do a speech writing  on how to do something about our reading I did juggling. Here is my Writing

Hey readers!

Today I am going to tell you about how to juggle.

I have been learning a lot on how to juggle, it will take a lot of practice!

Do you know how to juggle?

I  have been reading this book on how to juggle and searching up lots of ways how to juggle.

If you like you could try juggling yourself!!

Step 1.  The first thing you need to learn how to juggle is grab a ball then start chucking it to you hands and keep doing that and try to catch it.

Then you add another ball and do the same thing it might be hard or not, after you have got the hang of it you could start going faster than you might get the hang of it, you might get the hang of it.

        Here are the steps on how to learn to juggle           

Maybe you might learn how to juggle these steps

Step 2. Then do the same thing but add another ball if you are confident. If you want to have more of a challenge do it with your eyes closed.  Now you have two balls if you want get three

Step 4. Practice lots and lots! If you are struggling start from 1 ball again the throw it to the other hand and keep on doing it then if you want get 2 balls then you have three and chuck two balls up in the air and catch the two balls with one hand and the other ball with the other hand if you are right handed catch two balls in the right hand  if are left handed do the opposite.  Go on slide 7 to see how to juggle with three TADA!!!! Sooner or later you might learn how to juggle.

Learning about space

Hi guys today rata class was learning about space and there is this really AWESOME youtuber called Chris Hadfield  he does videos in space. It is really amazing what he does!! Would you like you live in space?

I also learnt that Jupiter Its average temperature is too cold for humans to live on it is up to 110 degrees celsius!!  Mars, the atmosphere pressure on mars is one less percent of earth's atmospheric pressure.  Most of the atmosphere is made of carbon dioxide. With oxygen and other gases forming less than 0.4%.

Math is fun!

At maths time today we had to go on a site called math is fun.  I don't really know my seven times tables so I am trying to learn them.  My goal is to say an answer or the right answer in four seconds! 

This my math work from today.  I am confident in my ones, twos, threes, fours, fives, sixes, eights, nines, tens they are pretty easy! I need more work on my elevens and mt twelves.  Here is the link to math is fun  https://www.mathsisfun.com/timestable.html        

I think it is fun and I can do my nine times tables in two or three seconds.                                                                  

Mathletics

Today In maths time I went on a site called mathletics and I went on Venn Diagram it is great!
Venn Diagram is when you put the same last number to the number say there was 5 and the only numbers were 15 55 40 you will put the 55 and the 15 into the circle and the odd ones left into the middle.

This one is when I was about to start and when I finished I only got a couple wrong. I figured out the question by putting one number with the number 3  and put 3 in it and then do one in the teens and one in the tens.  

I think this was not really easy because I have never done it before.Venn diagrams are io sort the numbers out. You see there is 5 and 3 you put the ones with 5 in the 5 column and then put the mixed ones into the middle.

Te reo Maori

Hi guys today at school we are learning maori colours.

We had to make a slide with the maori colours and I learnt how to say what colour is this in maori!

What is my favorite subject at school!

So first you can get all your fingers up then put the number 7th finger down then make it a tens then so then it =63

How to play Scatterball

                                           At writing time we got taught how to play Scatter ball.  We had to make                                       instructions for a game.  This is what I did.  It was hard I guess.

                          It was my first time ever playing it, it was SUPER FUN!

I think the hard bit was when I had to do the diagram because I had no idea because I could not find the right shapes. This is how to win: if you are in the thrower's team if you want to win you have to throw the balls low to the ground. If you are in the fielders team you will need to catch the balls and keep an eye on them.

                                                                                  

What is st Patrick's day for?

Hey people!

I am learning about st  Patrick's day.

I wondered what it was for since it was coming up.
This is what I learnt.

 For St  Patrick's day they have a global celebration of Irish culture on or around about march 17th. It particularly  remembers St Patrick, one of Ireland's patron saints, who ministered Christianity in Ireland during the fifth century.

Matariki

We are learning about Matariki and it's fun to learn about it.We have to do a doc about matariki and we had to answer questions and they were a bit hard and easy at the same time.  Here is some screen shots of my work I have been doing.  It was cool learning about Matariki.

Prototec

We are learning to do stage seven maths and it is hard but i will get the hang of it.
I am on stage 5-6 It is fun and now I have learnt how to do new strategies and I am trying to learn divided byes.  I like to do lots of times tables. My mum taught me how to do my nine times tables just with five fingers up to ten. Well you can use ten fingers but it is easier to do it with five.
Here are some maths I did on prototec. It is hard for me to do the divided byes. We have to do 40 maths questions.

We are learning about our own backyard! (Christchurch)
Here are some facts about Christchurch!!
1.It is the largest city in the South Island, and the 3rd largest urban area in the country in terms of population 
2.The population of Christchurch is around 350,000.
3.The nickname of Christchurch is the “Garden City” owing to its large botanic gardens and central park.
4.Archaeological evidence suggests that Christchurch was first settled by Maori in the 13th Century.
5.Christchurch was the first place in New Zealand to officially become a city; this occurred on July 31, 1856.
6.The 1974 Commonwealth Games were hosted in Christchurch. QEII Park (named after Queen Elizabeth II)

10.hagley park is the third biggest green park in the world in christchurch!!!

We are learning to Help and do the right things.  We had to make a slide about fresh fish and stincy fish fresh fish is when you do the right thing and stincy fish is when you do the wrong thing and you are not aloud to do the wrong thing or you will get in trouble.

Writing!!

The Call!

I woke up from a mysterious call, and dun dun dun who is this?? you know it's Trixie, Cool! Trixie said, " You know what happened yesterday I was doing top team and I stepped on a dead wasp! OUCH!!! I said go on... Trixie continued, Then I had to go back to class and Mrs land had to squeeze out the puss and still two day later the puss is still coming out! eww!" Then two hours later Mum Lukas and I went to the shop and i could hear music faintly and the heater roaring a lot loudly.  By the time we bought the delicious smelling food then... "OUCH that's alot!" mum was saying, "what does that mean" I said that means a lot of money! "oh" I said... When we raced into the sparkling shiny ford, we raced home.  Are we there yet two seconds later are we "NO" Lukas yelled!  What a bad day!

Geometry

We are learning about geometry to build a city made out of paper.  It is going to be fun, before we have to make a slide about geometry.  Hope you enjoy.

Emalea

I am Emalea

I  go to Gilberthorpe primary school I am a year five.  I have two pets a bunny named Cookie and a cat
named Gem.  Gem only drinks out of cups.  I really like: Animals drawing singing Jazz Modeling Karate my favorite TV program is Pokemon and I love playing mine craft star sk8 and piano tiles and I love music and concerts and I like to be Fancy and sometimes my parents call me delicate flower but I am strong I love doing flips on the tramp and I like getting my photo taken and I like this emoji: ⇾                                                        

I don't like: Mayonnaise Bananas NO INTERNET when there is no POWER I  absolutely hate the sound of a chalkboard when someone scratches it and bees jam flies, bread,

When I grow up I want to be a singer and an artist an architect and a photographer.

All about me!

Today I have finally finished my All about me side yay!
I have been working on it for two day. If you are wondering what All about me is?
It is were we had to make a slide about us we had to write what we like and what animal we like and  take a photo of our family.  And i is now our wallpaper on the device.  Pretty cool.  It was aso fun making it.
So the first one is my name is Emalea and my goal is to write the great vibes and my favorite colour is magenta my dream place to go to is Hollywood and I am nine and my favorite animals are cats and bunnies and a picture of my family and I was born I New Zealand and my favorite subject is art my favorite food is strawberries and last but not least my nickname is Em.

 

Why is the grass green?

I am learning about grass and I wondered why is the grass green.  Like many plants, most species of grass produce a bright pigment called chlorophyll. Chlorophyll absorbs blue light (high energy, short wavelengths) and red light (low energy, longer wavelengths) well, but mostly reflects green light, which accounts for your lawn's color.

Why is there a Leap Year?

I am learning why there is a leap year.  A common  year has 365 days and a leap year 366 days, with the extra, or intercalary, day designated as February 29.  A   leap year occurs every four  years to help synchronize the calendar year with the solar year, or the length of time it takes the earth to complete its orbit about the sun, which is about 365¼ days.
